How I use my Hobonichi Weeks Planner

This handy little planner is the most practical planner for writing down homework assignments or tasks for work. It is the smallest book offered, which makes it perfect for on the go use – it can easily fit in any backpack/bag/purse. It’s lightweight but sturdy, with a fabulous range of cover designs. For extra protection, I opted to get the clear cover, which will protect the outsides from any stains – this is particularly important for someone that drinks as much coffee as me.

The layout of the planner is pretty simple. It starts out with a spread that shows the months 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The next spread is an index of 2021, separated into 12 columns for each month. This would be the spot for a yearly log, where you write the events of each month (birthdays, personal holidays, etc). It could also be a great section to use as a tracker (mood, exercise, sleep. etc.)

Then there is the monthly section, in which each spread shows a full month. This is another great place to write events, put in stickers, little drawings – whatever you want, really. I like to use this section for writing special events, like birthdays or the Presidential Inauguration.

Finally, we get to the bulk of the planner – the weekly section. On the left, the page is divided into seven equal sections for each day of the week. The week starts on Monday, which is not how it normally is in America, but it makes so much sense and has been a great change for me (it has really helped me figure out my time better, it’s strange!). Then the right page is grid-ruled and largely blank for you to write out any weekly tasks, projects, or goals.

I like to use the weekly section for work. On the right, I make a list of the big picture – big projects or things that I need to accomplish that week. Then on the left page, I write down the smaller steps or tasks that need to be done in order to achieve this bigger project/goal. It is a great way to manage your time, as well as give you a clear path to follow as you move through the week.

Overall, I highly recommend the Hobonichi Weeks. It is excellent quality, with sturdy binding and a durable cover. But it is lightweight and small enough to make it the perfect on-the-go option for busy students and professionals.

What remains consistent is the importance of customer service, which is what piqued my interest in Public Relations. Having worked in a retail setting, I have experienced first-hand the importance of marketing and advertising as I see the number of customers walk through the doors. Now, as a Campaign Strategist, I can apply what I learned to help local businesses succeed.
